Lieury was a small service and supply hamlet located in Middlesex County that thrived during the latter part of the 19th century.

It began in the 1850s with the opening of a school, two churches and a store. At its height it boasted a population of around 75 people, a third church and a temperance hall. Trades included three carpenters, a carriage works, blacksmith, tailor and a shoemaker.

During the 1920s, residents arranged for the purchase of a recreational park, later renamed McGillivray Memorial Park. In addition to the recreational facilities, it now includes a cenotaph and war memorial dedicated to the men of McGillivray Township who lost their lives during World War I.

A number of homes remain occupied in Lieury. One of the churches and the school still remain. Both are now private residences. The park sees excellent maintenance and is open to visitors year round. Learn more
